Cutover

Slide 1 / 5

Cutover is the controlled switch from old systems to the new EHR: • Detailed timeline (hour by hour) — often starting days before. • Final data conversion (appointments, balances, active orders/meds) and validation. • Freeze on build changes; final migrations to production. • Legacy systems set to read-only at the planned time. • Inpatient units: manual or converted active orders and med lists for current patients (sometimes done by clinical teams at the bedside). • Downtime procedures in place during the switch.
