What 'build' means

Slide 1 / 5

EHRs are configured, not coded from scratch. 'Build' is the analyst's work of creating and changing configuration records: • Master files/dictionaries: departments, providers, users, medications, procedures, order sets, note templates, flowsheet rows, rules, reports. • Settings (profiles) that decide behavior for a department, role or user. • Workflow tools: navigators, activities, print groups, work queues. Good build is consistent, documented, tested and reusable.
