Every vaccine needs two codes: the product and the administration.
• Products: 90xxx (e.g. 90686 flu vaccine quadrivalent preservative-free; 90715 Tdap), new COVID-19 codes as released.
• Administration: 90471 (first injection) + 90472 (each additional); 90473/+90474 (oral/intranasal).
• Under 18 with provider counseling: 90460 (first component of each vaccine) + 90461 (each additional component).
• Medicare uses G0008 (flu), G0009 (pneumococcal), G0010 (hepatitis B) for administration.
• Diagnosis: Z23.
