The Index Tables & Encoder Software

Use the Neoplasm Table, the Table of Drugs and Chemicals and the External Cause Index — and learn how encoders speed up lookup without replacing your judgment.

Three special parts of the Index

Slide 1 / 6

Besides the main Alphabetic Index of diseases and injuries, ICD-10-CM has: 1. The Neoplasm Table — codes for every site by behavior. 2. The Table of Drugs and Chemicals — poisoning, adverse effect and underdosing codes for every substance. 3. The External Cause of Injuries Index — how, where and doing what an injury happened.

(Older books had a Hypertension Table — it was removed, and hypertension is now looked up as a regular Index entry.)
