Writing inclusive HTML: semantics first, text alternatives, keyboard access, and ARIA.

Why accessibility matters

Slide 1 / 5

Accessibility (often shortened to a11y) means everyone can use your site β€” including people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf, have motor disabilities, or have cognitive differences.

People use screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control, keyboards instead of mice, and switch devices. Many countries also require accessible websites by law (for example, the ADA in the US and the EAA in the EU), and the WCAG guidelines define the standard.

Accessible sites are usually easier for everyone to use.
