A working definition

Slide 1 / 5

Health informatics is the interdisciplinary field that studies and pursues the effective use of data, information and knowledge — and the technology that carries them — to improve health, healthcare, public health and research.

It sits where three worlds meet: • Health and clinical care (how care is delivered and decisions are made) • Information science and computing (data, systems, standards, AI) • People and organizations (workflow, behavior, policy, ethics)
