Stashing

Setting aside unfinished work with git stash, listing, applying, and dropping stashes.

Why stash?

Slide 1 / 5

Sometimes you need a clean working folder right now β€” to switch branches for an urgent fix, or to pull a teammate's changes β€” but your current work isn't ready to commit.

git stash saves your uncommitted changes (staged and unstaged) on a stack and resets your folder to the last commit. Later, you bring the changes back exactly as they were.
