Why clinical data management matters

Slide 1 / 5

Every new medicine, vaccine and medical device is approved based on data from clinical trials. Regulators like the FDA and EMA decide whether a treatment is safe and effective by reviewing that data.

Clinical Data Management (CDM) makes sure trial data is: • complete — nothing important missing, • accurate — matches what happened to the patient (source), • consistent — follows the protocol and standards, • traceable — every change is recorded (audit trail), • ready for analysis and submission on time.
