Guided Notes

INSERT, UPDATE & DELETE

Adding rows with INSERT INTO, working with NULL values, changing data with UPDATE, and removing rows with DELETE — safely.

INSERT INTO

Slide 1 / 5

Add rows by naming the columns, then the values in the same order:

INSERT INTO products (product_id, name, category, price, stock) VALUES (18, 'Water Bottle', 'Accessories', 14.50, 60);

Insert several rows at once by separating the value lists with commas. You can leave out columns that allow NULL or have a default — but always list the columns you do provide, so the statement survives future table changes.
